Turn Old Suitcase into Vanity Dresser

I saw this old “vintage” Samsonite suitcase outside our yard. It was dirty, smelly, old and insects are calling it their home. Sorry, insects I have to turn this into something useful. I have been eyeing on things which can be turned into something useful for our new home. Also, we are trying to save some bucks from furniture and other stuffs for the new house. I never thought it would be very costly to be a homeowner. The best way to shop cheap is around your parent’s house. hahaha. Yeah, I mean really they have a lot of stuffs that are gems waiting to be rediscovered and repurpose. I enjoyed treasure hunting around my in-laws house. Yes, I am like that! Anyway, I turned this old suitcase into a vanity dresser.

First, I lightly sanded it. Our good friend suggested to use thinner to remove the old paint. (Thank you Kuya Serge for the suggestion)

Second, I primed it using spray paint primer. Use paint that is specific for plastic.

Time to transform this thing into a vanity dresser. I used plastic cardboard as divider. I cut cardboard pieces according to my desired partition.

Also, I painted the inner of the suitcase with chrome spray paint.

Turning the suitcase into something new and useful was awesome!!! We saved a lot, I don’t have to buy a P3,000+ ($70) vanity dresser for our new home.
