I’ve have seen so many people out there who are re-purposing old tires. This is my share. We wanted to save money on home decor for our new house and I remember how great old tires would look as home decor or in this case coffee table. My FIL had an old tire sitting in the garage which luckily my MIL hasn’t thrown yet.
The process was a bit long and lots of hot glue burns here and there. The burn was tolerable so don’t worry just be careful if you are using one.
I think I need another old tire for this little one. He looks really comfortable in it.
You will need the following: old tire, glue gun and glue sticks (lots of it), and cord (I used wedding cords in cream and brown). You can use any cord/yarn/rope of your choice.
Step 1. Glue cord unto the tire
Step 2. keep gluing.
Step 3. just keep on gluing…
Step 4. Add table legs or wheels.
Step 5. Add round table glass on top
OR to make this as storage, cut 2 round boards. The first board attach to the bottom. Cover the second board with cord and place it on top.
I love running my hands on this thing. The texture is smooth. Since I am using wedding cords, it has some glitter effects which I love.
This coffee table will soon be placed in our new house. I did not buy the round table glass yet as this won’t be used very soon. For now, this will be kept safe. I’ll be posting an update on this project.
