Welcome to our new abode! Living room tour as promised. Did you catch the Garage tour? Check it here if you missed it. The theme is black, white, and gold/yellow with splashes of other colors.
The window wall measures around 8 feet wide from wall to wall. Its adjacent wall where the sofa is located, is about 6 feet wide then next to it is the main door. The pendant light is from Ikea. I realized it looked odd in this picture. The 3 seater white sofa is also from Ikea which I bought from a second hand furniture shop – BT.
The 3 canvass print was purchased at Metro Ayala. It radiates calmness and at the same time fits with the black, white and gold theme. You might be wondering what’s that wood under the TV. I’ll be talking about that in another post so stay tuned in.
I added a long mirror to this wall to make the area look bigger. I originally planned to put two mirrors on both sides of the TV but I ended up placing only one. I had to dropped the idea of installing the second mirror due to its position, that is facing the door. In Feng Shui, mirror facing the door is not good as this pushes the energy right back out the door. In order to make this area look symmetrical, I stenciled the wall from top to bottom with Sophia Trellis pattern (read more here).
I was going for a minimal look so I decided to place less decor. That crystal round plaque is my husband’s achiever award which was given to him for doing a great job at his work. Woohoo! Two thumbs up hubby!!! The floating shelf is made of 3/4″ marine plywood and painted with black semi gloss. I put some photobooks in it and other things. I hired a carpenter for this project.
I have plastic orchid flower that I bought from SM department store. The vase is actually an old wine bottle that I painted gold. I group it with our wedding give-away jewelry ceramic storage and a shell. Our Samboan neighbor named Loloy, who is a kid, got the shell from the sea. We call him “sea man” because he swims and dives the sea, shall I say, everyday. The meat from the shell was cooked and we ate it. It tasted so fresh and delicious. I had the shell sun dried for a couple of days before using it as a decor.
This second hand Ikea sofa was still in good shape and bought it for P8,000.00 which was a great bargain. The pads were in great condition. It came with white canvass cover. Since hubby is working in Singapore, I asked him to buy another cover at the Ikea Store Singapore which cost around $50SGD. The black fabric caddy is also from Ikea.
Let me tell you friends that this house is full of products from Ikea. By the way, I am not promoting Ikea nor paid me for mentioning them here. It’s just that I love their products.
There you have the living room home tour. Next would be Dining and Kitchen Home tour. Did you enjoy the tour? Please let me know in the comments.
